For the love of Ann Goldstein
Following the translator I usually pick up books randomly, actually no. I don't 'pick up' books these days. I download them. I haven't held a book in my hand in some time. It is all on my phone these days, reading , writing , editing etc. The point is, I read one book and if I like it very much, I look up other books by the same author and try them. I have read multiple books by all my favourite authors. Sometimes all of them. For example I have read everything in English that has Elena Ferrante as the author. Here comes Ann Goldstein. Goldstein is the translator of all works written by Elena Ferrante - the pen name of an anonymous author who writes in Italian. As one reads the Neapolitan trilogy and other novels in English, one wonders if the words are indeed Goldstein's or Ferrante's.That is why I started reading the 'Clash of civilizations over an elevator'.
